ACTRIMS 2024 | The value of an integrative medicine approach in patients with MS

Megan Weigel, DNP, ARNP-c, MSCN, Baptist Neurology Inc, Jacksonville Beach, FL, delves into the value of a holistic care and integrative medicine approach in patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). Patients living with the condition need to feel empowered and as though they have some control over their disease, and Ms Weigel highlights the ability of integrative medical modalities to do this. In order to manage their disease, patients can choose to control their diet, stress level, sleep, social environment, and physical activity, as well as being able to seek out modalities of symptom management that they believe work for them, such as acupuncture, acupressure, and massage. Ms Weigel also highlights the often overlooked role of many of these lifestyle medicine interventions in the management of symptoms associated with medication use. This interview took place during the 7th European Headache Congress (EHC) 2023.
