World Sleep 2022 | Low specificity of screening questionnaires in RBD

Ambra Stefani, MD, PhD, Medical University of Innsbruck, Innsbruck, Austria, discusses screening methods for REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD), drawing focus on the use of screening questionnaires. Dr Stefani first explains that these questionnaires often have low specificity and cannot be applied to the general population. Following this, Dr Stefani briefly discusses a study that found that these questionnaires have very low specificity in RBD and concludes by mentioning alternative screening methods that may be used in the future, including wearable devices, actigraphy, and artificial intelligence (AI). This interview took place during the World Sleep Congress 2022 in Rome, Italy.
