EEC 2024 | The development of adaptive DBS technology for epilepsy

Michael Hart, FRCS(SN), PhD, University of London & St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, London, UK, discusses advancements in neuromodulation for epilepsy, focusing on the development of adaptive deep brain stimulation (DBS) technologies. Dr Hart mentions the CADET study, a trial in the United Kingdom that aims to investigate the safety, feasibility, and effectiveness of thalamic DBS in treating children with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. Dr Hart then outlines some other stimulatory approaches that are also in development. This interview took place at the 15th European Epilepsy Congress (EEC) 2024 in Rome, Italy.
