EEC 2024 | The importance of early surgery in pediatric epilepsies

Carmen Barba, MD, PhD, Meyer Children’s Hospital, University of Florence, Florence, Italy, briefly discusses the importance of early surgery in pediatric epilepsies, as a shorter duration of epilepsy prior to surgery has been linked to a greater likelihood of becoming seizure-free and stopping anti-seizure medication, which is in turn associated with superior cognitive outcomes. This interview took place at the 15th European Epilepsy Congress (EEC) 2024 in Rome, Italy.
