Cynthia Comella, MD, Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, IL, discusses the developments in diagnosing and treating dystonia. Recent progress has been made in genetics and severity assessment through clinical and computer-based technology. There is also a promise for future treatments such as new types of botulinum toxin and deep brain stimulation (DBS). The Dystonia Coalition has also made progress in understanding the natural history of dystonia.
