Although considered a movement disorder, Parkinson’s disease is associated with a broad spectrum of non-motor symptoms. Carlo Cattaneo, DBSc CAAAN, Zambon SpA, Bresso, Italy, highlights the importance of recognizing and managing non-motor symptoms in patients with Parkinson’s disease. Non-motor symptoms such as pain and mood are often underestimated and undertreated, but they can greatly impact the patients’ and caregivers’ quality of life. Therefore, it is crucial to develop new questionnaires to diagnose non-motor symptoms early on and provide treatments that improve motor symptoms and mitigate non-motor symptoms. This interview took place at the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) 2023 Congress in Budapest, Hungary.
