Lucie Barateau, MD, PhD, Gui-de-Chauliac Hospital, CHU Montpellier, Montpellier, France, discusses the Phase III data for oveporexton, an orexin receptor 2 agonist that has demonstrated significant improvements in excessive daytime sleepiness, wakefulness, and cataplexy in patients with narcolepsy type 1. She explores the potential implications of these findings for narcolepsy type 2 and highlights the growing importance of assessing orexin deficiency as a biomarker to guide treatment decisions in central disorders of hypersomnolence. This interview took place at the 40th annual meeting of the Associated Professional Sleep Societies (APSS) congress in Baltimore, MD.
