MDS 2022 | The role of deep brain stimulation for atypical parkinsonism

Carlo Alberto Artusi, MD, University of Torino, Torino, Italy, discusses the efficacy and safety of deep brain stimulation (DBS) in patients atypical parkinsonism. Numerous studies have demonstrated the beneficial properties of DMS, where many symptoms are relieved via stimulation of the primary motor cortex (M1). However, additional research is required to assess the durability of the response and whether maintenance therapy is required. This interview took place at the 2022 International Congress of Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorders in Madrid, Spain.
