AHS 2023 | Current challenges in treating and diagnosing headache

Morris Levin, MD, University of California San Francisco, San Francisco, CA, discusses the current challenges in treating and diagnosing headaches. Despite recent advancements in treatment, such as CGRP monoclonal antibodies and CGRP receptor blockers, some patients do not have access to care or do not respond to treatment. Researchers should continue to identify new receptor targets. Behavioral therapy may also be useful for the treatment of these refractory patients. In the future, AI will likely be incorporated into diagnosing and treating headache. This interview took place at the American Headache Society 2023 meeting in Austin, TX.
