EAN 2023 | Current guidelines for diagnosis and management of RLS

Ambra Stefani, MD, PhD, Medical University of Innsbruck, Innsbruck, Austria, discusses the diagnostic criteria for restless leg syndrome (RLS). RLS is characterized by unpleasant sensations in the legs that worsen during rest, particularly at night or in the evening. Movement tends to alleviate these symptoms, making it an essential factor in its diagnosis. Prevention of augmentation and iron treatment are critical aspects of RLS management. Furthermore, specific guidelines exist for particular populations, such as children and pregnant women. This interview took place at the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) 2023 Congress in Budapest, Hungary.
