Academic History

Mona Nada, MBBCh, MD, is a Professor of Neurology at Cairo University, Egypt, where she serves as Coordinator of the Kasr Alainy Headache and Related Disorders Unit (KAHDU) and is a member of the Multiple Sclerosis Unit (KAMSU). Prof. Nada earned her MBBCh in Medicine and Surgery from Cairo University in 1996, followed by a master’s degree in neurology in 2000 and her MD in 2005.

Prof. Nada is Co-chair of the Cluster Headache Special Interest Group of the International Headache Society (IHS), and an active member of the IHS Child and Adolescent Standing Committee and Women Inclusion, Diversity and Equality (WIDE) group. She also contributes to the Headache MENAA study group and the European Academy of Neurology mentorship program. Nationally, she is a board member of the Headache Chapter of the Egyptian Society of Neurology, Psychiatry and Neurosurgery, and has played a pivotal role in advancing headache medicine in Egypt through teaching, research, and CME initiatives.

Speaking on Headache Disorders and Neurological Research in the Middle East

Prof. Nada’s research focuses on the epidemiology, triggers, and treatment gaps of headache disorders in the Middle East, with additional interests in migraine pathogenesis, cluster headache, and headache in special populations. She has been actively involved in headache research since 2008 and has contributed to expanding regional awareness and education through both clinical and academic channels.

Her career reflects a strong commitment to advancing headache medicine globally, advocating for inclusion and mentorship within the neurology community, and improving access to evidence-based headache care in the Middle East and Africa.
