Academic History

Adnan Mujanovic, MD, PhD, is a Resident in Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology at the University Hospital of Bern (Inselspital), Switzerland. Previously, he served as a Clinical Research Fellow at the same institute, focusing on advanced stroke imaging and intervention.

Dr Mujanovic completed his PhD studies at the University of Bern’s Graduate School of Health Sciences, where he specialized in neuroradiology and stroke research. His academic background also includes a Doctor of Medicine degree (Dr.med.) from the University of Bern, and a Master’s degree in Human Medicine from the University of Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Additionally, Dr Mujanovic completed the Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Clinical Research in Health Care Organisations at the University of Bern’s Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine.

Dr Mujanovic is also a representative for the European Academy of Neurology and has junior memberships to the Swiss Society for Neuroscience and the European Stroke Organisation, along with service roles such as the Early Career Editorial Board for the Journal of the American Heart Association and the Digital Strategist Editor for the STROKE journal.

Speaking on Acute Stroke Reperfusion and Imaging

Dr Mujanovic’s research interests are focused on improving acute stroke outcomes through advanced reperfusion therapy and imaging techniques. His work primarily investigates incomplete thrombectomy and innovative methods for intracranial reperfusion, including the efficacy of intra-arterial tenecteplase for non-complete reperfusion of intracranial occlusions. Notable projects include the REFIT study, exploring reperfusion following incomplete thrombectomy, and the TECNO trial, assessing tenecteplase for acute stroke.
