Maria Roberta Cilio, MD, PhD, Université Catholique de Louvain, Brussels, Belgium, explains the importance of continuous EEG monitoring of high-risk neonates in intensive care units (ICUs). Neonates at particular risk may include those with encephalopathy, neonatal depression, and those with suspected seizures. Prof. Cilio highlights how the brain controls the vital physiological functions and the importance of monitoring the brain’s activity.
