AAN 2024 | Communicating a diagnosis of functional neurological disorder

William Curt LaFrance Jr, MD, MPH, FAAN, FANPA, DFAPA, Brown University, Providence, RI, talks on important considerations when communicating a diagnosis of functional neurological disorder (FND) with a patient. He emphasizes the importance of explaining the involvement of both the brain and the mind. FND is a neurological manifestation of an underlying psychological stressor or a life event and should be treated as such. This interview took place at the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) Annual Meeting 2024 in Denver, CO.
