EAN 2022 | An analysis of COVID-19 infection and vaccinations in epilepsy patients

During the COVID-19 pandemic and the vaccination program, people with epilepsy were concerned about a potentially elevated risk of the infection or the vaccinations. Bernhard Steinhoff, MD, PhD, Kork Epilepsy Center, Kehl-Kork, Germany, discusses a study that assessed the outcome of proven COVID-19 infections or complete vaccinations. Results did not show a different infection course than the general population. Seizure aggravations occurred significantly more frequently in the infected group than in the vaccinated group. The vaccinations were generally well tolerated. This interview took place at the 2022 Congress of the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) in Vienna, Austria.
