Mikael Mazighi, MD, Université de Paris, Paris, France, shares his thoughts on the importance of blood pressure control after endovascular therapy (EVT). Several recent studies have demonstrated a link between blood pressure management after EVT and intracranial hemorrhage (ICH) risk. The recent Blood Pressure Target in Acute Ischemic Stroke to Reduce Hemorrhage After Endovascular Therapy (BP TARGET) trial (NCT03160677), evaluating whether an intensive systolic blood pressure target of below 130mmHg resulted in reduced rates of ICH, had a neutral outcome. Investigators are now seeing if other reduction strategies or individually tailored approaches can reduce hemorrhagic risk in this population. This interview took place at European Stroke Organisation Conference 2022 in Lyon, France.
