AAIC 2017 | Can preformed fibril injections influence the features of PD?

Jeffrey Kordower, PhD from Rush University Medical Center, Chicago, IL, speaks with us about a recent study examining how injecting preformed fibrils of the protein alpha-synuclein, the misfolding of which is associated with the development of Parkinson’s disease (PD), could influence dopamine levels in an animal model. Dopamine is the neurotransmitter chiefly responsible for the main features of PD. Dr Kordower also talks about ongoing studies which are attempting to create animal models of Alzheimer’s Disease. This interview was recorded at the 2017 Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC) held in London, UK.
