Kailash Bhatia, MD, DM, FRCP, UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, London, UK, outlines the challenges created by the identification of new genes involved in the development of movement disorders. Whilst next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies enable the discovery of an increasingly larger number of variants, it is important to consider their relevance and pathogenicity. In addition, Prof. Bhatia underlines the importance of defining the core phenotypes of different forms of dystonia. This interview took place during the XXV World Congress of Neurology.
