AAN 2021 | What does a healthy brain look like when it’s sleeping in relation to optimal cognitive performance?

Logan Schneider, MD, Stanford University School of Medicine, Stanford, CA, discusses a study exploring the relationships between slow wave sleep, electroencephalographic power spectra during sleep and overnight verbal memory retention in older adults. Findings revealed a novel association between slow oscillations and memory retention in elderly adults. Dr Schneider outlines other studies in the field. This interview took place during the American Academy of Neurology (AAN) 2021 Annual Meeting.
