Rejko Krüger, MD, University of Luxembourg, Belvaux, Luxembourg, outlines the findings of an explorative secondary data analysis looking at the unmet needs of patients with Parkinson’s disease and their caregivers during the COVID-19 lockdown in Luxembourg. For this analysis, patients were contacted by phone. Only a minority of patients reported COVID-19 related symptoms, and only 1 was confirmed as SARS-CoV-2 positive. It was recognized as an unmet need that patients did not have access to regular medical appointments or physiotherapy. However, the social network was well established, and family, health professionals and other systems supported patients’ needs, such as shopping or picking-up medication. Other needs should now be addressed prospectively to improve the care of patients in future times of crisis. This interview took place during the AD/PD™ 2021 conference.
