SLEEP 2026 | Higher CPAP adherence linked to lower risk of COVID-19 infection in individuals with OSA

Dennis Hwang, MD, Kaiser Permanente Fontana Medical Center, Fontana, CA, discusses findings from a retrospective cohort study examining obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) adherence, and COVID-19 outcomes. He highlights an association between higher CPAP adherence and lower rates of COVID-19 infection, and considers the potential implications of these findings for respiratory health and future research. This interview took place at the 40th annual meeting of the Associated Professional Sleep Societies (APSS) in Baltimore, MD.
